TB Spill Procedure

for cultures and suspensions

Within the Biological Safety Cabinet

* Immediately flood with tuberculocidal disinfectant.

* Cover with paper towels.

* Let soak for at least 15 minutes.

* If spill involves broken glass:

Do not use unprotected hands on broken glass

* Clean spill, wearing gloves and barrier gown.

Outside of the Biological Safety Cabinet

* Vacate room immediately and close off for at least 30 minutes.

* After 30 minutes, enter room wearing barrier gown and N95 respirator.

* Proceed with soaking and cleanup as above.
