|
-Red cells with multiple irregularly distributed, thorn-like spicules often with drumstick ends. -Found in association with hereditary abetalipoprotenemia but also seen in severe liver disease, hepatorenal failure, anorexia nervosa and in chronic starvation.Ê -A small number of acanthocytes may be found in forms of hemolytic anemia (especially post splenectomy). |
