Waived tests are a select group of laboratory tests that are granted this status under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA). They are tests which are not performed by laboratory personnel nor in laboratory setting because they are simple tests of low complexity that have proven reliability. As a waived test, they are exempt from the requirements for proficiency testing. In Louisiana, there is no licensing requirement for these tests but there are strict requirements for all other laboratory procedures.
