-Cells appear in the shape of a teardrop or pear with a single short or long protrusion. -Commonly seen in myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia but may also be seen in other forms of severe anemia. -These may be artifacts of slide preparation but the artifactual teardrops tails all point in the same direction. |
