Louisiana is blessed to have a strong, all embracing safety-net health care system, the LSU Health Sciences Center's Health Care Services Division and the nine medical centers which fall under its banner.

French seaman/boat builder, Jean Louis, gave us our start 276 years ago when, in March of 1736, he left the money to build L' Hospital de Charite de St. Louis (Charity Hospital of New Orleans).
